Cons:

  • not intended as a means of recording a whole band at once

What People Say about the Tascam DP-008EX

“This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever purchased in my 36 years on Earth! I just received it today, went through the quick start guide, and made my first tasty jam, ever! Not too tasty yet, but you get the idea-I’m EXCITED!

It took an hour and a half to go through the directions since I’ve never used one of these fancy doodads before, but after figuring it out, it’s now easy to use and I have to say the sound quality is awesome! So much fun!

I think that if you want to What People Say about Tascam DP008EX Tascam DP 008EX is a diminutive digital recorder with built in omni directional condenser microphones offering all basic mixing and editing facilitiesrecord your own music, but are sort of overwhelmed with the cost and/or technical aspect of it, you’ll be pleased with what you can create for a relatively small price. Just had to get the word out and if/when it holds up or breaks, I will update my review, or not. Thanks!” – Gracious

“Wow!!! What an amazing piece of technology! I may be revealing my age a bit, but what you get for the price is unbelievable!
I have paid tens of thousands for multi track recorders in my 30 years of being a recording artist & engineer, In some of the reviews for the dp-008ex there were some complaints about the noise of the pre amps /sound quality. Baloney! S/N ratio is over -80db! – Yes , they could have a bit more ‘gain’- But what else do you get? For a measley $150 bucks? 8 tracks of recording straight to an SD card, all digital, all solid state, -NO moving parts!!! (mechanical transport) battery powered! XLR inputs with phantom power! Many editing features including looping cut/paste etc etc……. And they even throw in a digital tuner & metronome!! Anyone who has any gripes about this unit has never. – A, dealt with TAPE! Or trying to interface a hardware/software ‘pro system’ with a computer! & it fits in a tiny bag NO laptop computer needed!!!! I have used Tascam equipment for years & always have had the best experience with their products. Keep it up Tascam! all I can say is AWESOME! Cheers – Ringo!” – ringo

The Tascam DP-008EX is awesome! If you have a pair of decent microphones, you can get almost get a professional sound out of this thing! It’s amazing!

“One note of caution though; make sure that you properly shut down the machine when you are done using it for the day. Seriously. Don’t take the batteries out and/or unplug your adapter while the machine is on. Hold down that power button until you see the Pocket Studio logo or you will lose everything you did that day! This is all in the instruction manual, but it’s easy to overlook.” – M. Hunt
